Local Infusion expands its specialty infusion offerings with the newly FDA-approved treatment for thyroid eye disease (TED)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Local Infusion, the fastest growing ambulatory infusion provider in the United States, today announced it is the first ambulatory infusion center in the United States to infuse Lumvoa™ (veligrotug-vvze), a newly FDA-approved thyroid eye disease (TED) treatment.
TED is a rare autoimmune condition that causes swelling and scarring of the tissue in and around the eye socket, often resulting in bulging eyes, double vision, discomfort, and threats to a patient’s eyesight. Lumvoa works by blocking IGF-1R, a receptor involved in the disease process, and its FDA-approved label covers patients regardless of how long they’ve had TED or how active their disease currently is. Patients complete a course of treatment with five infusions spaced three weeks apart.
By offering Lumvoa, Local Infusion gives patients and referring physicians a convenient, comfortable setting to access this new treatment option outside of a hospital or physician-office infusion suite, at a moment when specialists are actively looking for sites of care equipped to bring the therapy to patients quickly.
“Thyroid eye disease can be disorienting and isolating for patients, and getting them started on an effective therapy quickly matters,” said Ashley Knapp, Co-founder and Chief Development Officer at Local Infusion. “Being first to bring Lumvoa into an ambulatory infusion setting reflects our commitment to meeting patients where they are with the newest, most clinically meaningful therapies as soon as they become available.”
Local Infusion’s proprietary, AI-driven technology platform combines infusion data, intelligent automation, and programmable care pathways to help patients get treated faster, stay adherent to their treatment course, and achieve better outcomes, capabilities that are especially valuable for a condition like TED, where a compressed, five-infusion regimen means every visit counts.
Local Infusion continues to expand its patient-centered infusion programs in collaboration with manufacturers, healthcare providers, health systems, and payors nationwide, ensuring patients with rare and complex conditions have convenient, reliable access to the therapies they need.
